Who we are
In public school I made simple things in ‘Industrial Arts’ classes, learning the basics of woodworking and safety. Count your fingers going into the shop (ten), then count again coming out. Should be the same number.
My career was not in the wood industry in any capacity. But upon retirement, I looked around for ways I could keep my brain and body invigorated. Woodworking seemed to be my best option and I discovered an avenue to create things that I can share, and even sell. I was blessed with the opportunity to take an extended college course in Fine Woodworking. This gave me the tools to develop my skills – from effective tool sharpening to marquetry, hand-crafted joinery, and live edge table and cabinet construction. I will be a lifelong learner of this craft.
Functional Art is appreciated through the eyes and the fingertips – I strive to create furniture pieces that allow you to see, touch, and feel the qualities of natural wood. One of the pleasures of living is an opportunity to enjoy the unique almost lost art of handcrafted wood creations. OUTATHEWOODS Artisan exists to create such things. My works will change the dynamics of your home or office offering functionality and a unique example of one-of-a-kind high-quality craftsmanship. Owning a piece of functional art that has been created away from the hustle and bustle of city life is my way to give back to you, a piece inspired by the beauty of British Columbia’s Shuswap region. My Home.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
